These number 7 tracing worksheets are for preschool and kindergarten children who are just beginning to recognize and write the number seven. The set includes ten printable worksheets for home or classroom use.
Along the way, they learn that seven means seven objects, practice tracing and writing both 7 and the word seven, and finish with a mixed review.

How to Use These Number 7 Tracing Worksheets
- Start with coloring and finding seven so children learn to recognize the numeral before they trace it.
- Follow the starting dot and arrows — across, then diagonally down — and talk about what seven means: seven objects to count.
- Use the counting and matching pages to check that seven means seven objects, then move to independent writing only after guided tracing feels comfortable, and finish with the mixed review.
- Keep sessions short and print on A4 paper at Actual Size 100%.
- For repeated practice, print extra copies, or slip a printed page into a clear sleeve and trace it with a dry-erase marker.
- Teach seven with its two strokes and its quantity together: on Worksheet 3, say ‘across, then diagonally down’ as children trace, and on Worksheet 6, have them count each group aloud and circle only the groups with exactly seven objects, so the two-stroke numeral is tied to a counted group of seven.
Touching or moving each object as it is counted helps children keep track while counting, so no object is counted twice or skipped; the NCTM article Counting Activities to Try with Primary Students shares counting activities that build this kind of careful counting.
Common Core Connections
These number 7 tracing worksheets offer partial practice only with the numeral 7; they do not cover a full standard on their own. For kindergarten, two Common Core standards connect to the pages below, and preschool use is general early number practice with no assigned code.
K.CC.A.3 — Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0–20. Recognition and finding connect to Worksheets 1, 2, and 10; tracing and writing 7 connect to Worksheets 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10; and representing seven objects with the written numeral 7 connects to Worksheets 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10. Worksheet 8, which traces the word seven, is not mapped to this numeral standard.
K.CC.B.4.a — When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object. This connects only to Worksheet 6 and Worksheet 10 (section 2), where children count the objects in each unlabeled group and circle the group with seven objects.
